The routine is comfortable: making the same wines, following the same processes, year after year. But what if you could elevate your winemaking without spending a dime and instead, just spend a little of your focused time?
The secret? Strategic planning.
I know the year-end rush is real. You’re getting wine’s settled and stabilized, preparing (or actually) bottling, managing holiday events in the tasting rooms, pulling long hours for sales, and juggling personal commitments. That’s exactly why I’ve created two FREE planning tools to help you stay focused and move your winemaking forward with intention.

Tool #1: The Post-Harvest Review Checklist
Just 30 minutes reviewing this past harvest can save you countless hours and resources next season. This is why post-harvest assessments are non-negotiable for serious winemakers.
The Post-Harvest Review Checklist helps you and your team get organized for the new year. Use this guide to evaluate how the 2025 harvest went and identify what needs to change.

Documenting your winemaking journey might seem like a small thing, but it delivers big results. It allows you to:
- Visualize the work ahead for next season.
- Identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Focus on production areas that need attention.
- Celebrate successes you can build upon.
Tool #2: The 2026 Winemaking Goals Worksheet
Before you know it, pruning will be done, new shoots will cover the vines, and harvest 2026 will be here probably while you’re still rushing to bottle last year’s wines.
Don’t let the daily grind keep you from intentional reflection. This is the practice I do with DGW Clients at season’s end, and it’s transformative.
The 2026 Winemaking Goals Worksheet guides you through evaluating last season and planning for success. In one organized space, you’ll identify:

Challenges from 2025: What bottlenecks did you face? Logistical issues? Staffing shortages? Insufficient storage? H₂S problems? Write them down. Make them visible. Address them in 2026.
Trends that excite you: Want to produce a pét-nat with estate fruit? Launch a low alcohol wine? Finally use YAN analysis? Explore minimal intervention winemaking? Clarifying your interests helps you identify which educational opportunities deserve your time.
Goals for the new vintage: Empty tank inventory? Include more fruit wine in your production? Master red wine blending? Improve barrel storage and management? Integrate temperature control? Your goals are unique and writing them down creates focus and helps you communicate clearly with your team.
The worksheet includes a “Next Steps” section packed with suggestions and resources, plus a table to organize your wish list of enology supplies and equipment.
