Conferences are a great way to see the new innovations, network with other industry members, and taste the local wines. This article explores a few things I found of interest during my 2018 conference travels.
Packaging: Wine in Cans
Alternative forms of wine packaging continue to gain interest among innovative wineries. Given that some retail venues have no-glass policies, and that lighter packaging alternatives can save on carbon footprints, cans remain a viable option for packaging wine. Nonetheless, using cans to package wines comes with its own set of challenges. Wines should be evaluated for stability and compatibility with the package. Additionally, wineries that may be conscientious about BPA liners may consider alternative liner options. …
